RIDERS OF THE STORM

This is a new piece I am working on and was inspired to upload the intitial pencil work by today's thunderstorms.....Swifts truly ride electricity!

6 swifts heading south past the narrows at Spurn! NONE WITH WHITE RUMPS...not this time anyway, not that I had chance to draw the Pacific Swift at the speed it was going!

(SORRY for the poor scanning quality, the piece is bigger than my A4 scanner)

Two-barred's are coming!

With reports of thousands of these incredible birds moving through Fenno-Scandia I thought it was only right that to continue uploading Two-barred Crossbill linked posts.

So.....Once every now and then I receive lovely emails stemming from people viewing my blog. On opening my inbox the other day I was met with just such a message and was greeted with this awesome watercolour by Irish birder and bird artist Barry Ryan illustrating two of these fine birds.



They were painted by Barry on the same Stockholm trip that he went to see a Lars Jonsson exhibition!

I for one wish I had been there for both events!.... SOUNDS LIKE HEAVEN

At least it sounds like we can catch up with one of the aforementioned things this year in the British isles.

AS A FOOTNOTE I STILL CAN'T GET MY HEAD AROUND THE AMAZING PLACES, SEASCAPES/LANDSCAPES THESE BIRDS MUST SEE WHILST MIGRATING! ITS TO MUCH TO ABSORB....BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF NATURE!
