Unfinished Pallid Harrier

This was the final stage i got to before letting it dry to be stored away.At this point im adding some vague feather detail. I would like to think i may finish this painting in the near future but i may just leave it as it is and try again. Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Pallid Harrier

Last year i began to work on an oil painting of this Pallid Harrier but unfortunatly didnt get to finish it between moving house and changing jobs. However it was a very interesting learning curve trying to reproducing a small scale sketch into a large piece. Overall im not happy with the piece and feel its far to rigid to really portray such a fine looking bird as a harrier. However in terms of development it was very worthwhile. The first image shows some rough outline sketches:

Waxwing Watercolour

This was a quick watercolour i did in 2008 whilst living in Hull. It was inspired by an ever growing flock of these stunning birds that fed at the rear of my work place. The flock initially started at 8 individuals and increased to over 70 at one point before redispersing.
